Re: February Observations and Discussions
44* with steady rain. Radar shows very heavy rain about to move in from the Princeton to Bucks Co. PA area. That should cause a lot of street flooding issues in some areas I’d think. Another heavy batch of rain over Maryland seems destined to get here this afternoon right after this incoming batch.

Re: February Observations and Discussions
Never got above 38 here yesterday and it's 34.7 and of course raining again, talk about frustrating.
As of this morning we still have snow cover, which speaks more to the resilience of encasing snow in a 1/4 inch of ice than the two minor events from Feb 2nd and 7th that dropped 3.8 inches of snow, but this will be officially the last day.
40 days of snow cover so far this winter, 28.6 inches of snow and overall temperatures from December 1 to this point slightly BN means I can't complain to much yet. But when I look at the 15 day I have a lot of complaining to do, but I won't today at least.

Another area of heavy rain from Philly to the Baltimore area and over the Delmarva. That should be rolling through in the next hour or so. These heavy cells seem to be racing pretty quick northeast through the larger rain area.

Standing water in my back yard. That doesn’t happen that often. Sump pump is earning its pay today.

Getting to the weather, going to take a long time to get over our loss plus you never forget the love for a dog and the dogs love for you. Why I am I under a winter weather advisory? For big puddles I guess.

Re: February Observations and Discussions
Heavy rain again here. It does appear the entire line is sliding southeast and the end may be approaching sooner than later. I’m hoping this ends by about 3 or 4:00. Backyard is flooded with puddles. I’d guess we got between 1.25 and 1.75” here conservative estimate.

36 and fog.
The only thing worse than looking out at todays weather is looking at the 15 day forecast on my weather app. Now that is ugly.

Re: February Observations and Discussions
Ahhh, nice and mild outside this week. If it's not going to snow when it is cold then I much prefer milder temps!
Tuesday will be cooler but the rest of the week should crack at least 50 degrees.

Yep. I awoke to a three hour delay for kids' schools. Driveway and car were coated. Here the utility company was putting out warnings of ice on the roads early am on. It warmed up and it was gone.

You can see the result of the two wave 1 attacks, Mid and late Jan, followed by the upper cut wave 2 attack on the strat in this graph. Very impressive.

Temperature are dropping down to 43 degrees it got quite windy earlier before. I can I believe we are going to see some snow tomorrow night and then back to mild to possibly warm week starting on Tuesday till Thursday temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s it's February whatever happened to our snow storms and whatever happened to our pattern change

Re: February Observations and Discussions
If we get measurable snow tomorrow night, then the period from January 18th through February 18th , 31 days of well above normal temperatures I will have had three measurable snow events. We are in an era where it just wants to snow especially the last 7 years but you can take this back to 2000.syosnow94 wrote:.31" of rain overnight and this morning. I think most of us have gotten spoiled with this sudden surge of snow James do you remember the period from 97 through 99 or the 1980s. We now expect a six inch snowfall every winter and a foot or more are now common. that was unheard of 20 + years ago. As far as the pattern change delayed but not denied the next threat looks to be February 26th give or take a day and then look for another snow storm in early March. I've moved past temperature departures as we are in a warm climate. it's all about snowfall and we have been getting a lot of that the last 18 years
