I don’t think any serious forecaster is going to put stock in the GFS especially it’s thermal profiles inside of 24 hours

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations
Looking at radar, moisture moving north rapidly after stalling a bit earlier. Hard to know what's actually hitting the ground, but it looks like we may get precip a little sooner than expected.

Many TV mets probably will. They love to hump that model which is aggravating to say the least.syosnow94 wrote:I don’t think any serious forecaster is going to put stock in the GFS especially it’s thermal profiles inside of 24 hours

Why is SFC temp so warm on the CMC. I'd assume it doesn't do well with mesoscale features

If I were going to make a change to my snow map, which I won't, it would be to included "isolated 15-20" amounts within the orange area." I think that some in my 10-15 range may jackpot even higher.

JMan if they pull the trigger with a blizzard warning not only will you be included but probably all of eastern NJ (myself included) as well. Tell you the truth, I'd rather not have an all out blizzard cause they tend to mess with snow ratios. On the other hand when you get a blizzard warning in your area you get sense of bravado. To each their own I guess.@jmanley32 wrote:Frank is NYC metro including Bronx and southern wc or just NYC itself? I would live to see a blizzard warning then school will def b called.

High winds do tend to lower snow ratios. It's another reason I can do without high winds in a snow storm. That of course and all of the damage, destruction and power outages. Like you say to each his own though.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations
It's like I was saying yesterday and this morning and Frank has reiterated about the northern area cutoffs.
Very sharp cutoffs in the north, really sharp. I'm sitting pretty in that depiction but a 25 mile shift south and I'm whining like a three year old tomorrow.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations
do we have a sense of the time frame for NYC (where my office is) and the Union County area (where I live)? Is this they type of thing where it picks up in the afternoon or is it bad all day Wednesday?
