I concur sroc!!! So 12-18 degrees above normal what does that translate to well into the upper 90s or even over 100?

My eyes just popped out of my head. I am still looking for them. My weather station says 18 inches so far for the month of August. Can this be even close? The sensor is up 24 feet on a pole. Angels and ministers of grace defend us! Bring us umbrellas.

Could be, I have 9.89" so far and a lot of storms have been to the north of me..... in your direction. Check other stations in your area..

yes Joanne, tomorrow will be worse... I'm down in Seaside Park and not much of a breeze once you get 1 block off the beach. Not that it would matter much it is so humid!

Doc drove up to danbury this weekend not a hint of color on any tree. Very unpleasant today. Brief cooldown coming followed by more heat early next week. Good news is signs pattern may break around sept 8th or so. Ready for fall and winter.docstox12 wrote:Driving around my area I notice that barely 1 to 2% of the trees have a splash of color.Last year at this time it was 5 to 10%.Maybe this jibes with the Accuweather Fall forecast of continued warmth. It's 3 solid weeks behind last year with color.Don't think next weeks heat wave in the 90's is going to speed things up either.Looking forward to a week of temps from the 40's at night to the 60's during the day.Dreadful muggy, warm, wet summer.

Today was neck and neck with yesterday. Both smokers. I am surprised to see up here just a 40% chance of rain tomorrow. So hot and if cooler air comes in, no real rain?
But...it is that great time of the year...when kids go back to school...yeah!

OK, thnks Al for the leaf color report.I'm with you, bring on Fall and Winter. This has been an oppressive, miserable summer IMO.By now , we would have had a few nights in the 40's here in a normal August. This heat just won't quit.I see mid 70's with shower tomorrow here. That will probably feel like the 50's! Days are getting shorter, dark at 8 PM now.

A pattern shift continues on all long-range ensemble guidance starting around September 8th with the ridge moving to the Western us and a trough in the east this will coincide with a very active tropics. System showing up on 10+ day ensemble mean is impressive. Kudos to Scott and RB for seeing this way in advance

Just a beautiful night at 11:30 pm out on the deck. 70 degrees. Still air. Quiet but for the crickets, katydids, owls, and the night speech of plant and stone
