Re: January 19th-20th: 1st Call Snow Map
It started snowing here about 1:45 Saturday afternoon and I don't think there's more than maybe 3" on the ground. The NWS is still calling for over a foot so there must be some absolutely monstrous bands heading through at some point.

We are loading them up on the truck now Aresian. If we dont hit any traffic we will be there by dawn lol. Shall we start unloading in the driveway first?

If you think you'll make it here by dawn, then you're gambling on how effective our plows have been. Sometimes they're great. Other times, I've seen a 20 minute drive take upwards of an hour.

I have confidence in Painted Post's Facilities dept lol. Hang in there for your foot, I've seen stranger things happen. Only thing that concerns me is wasnt there mention of sleet all of the way up by Binghamton earlier? No way did I ever think that mixing would become an issue that far north not with this one anyway.

8.5” here so far in Greentown, Pa (Poconos). Still snowing when precip is heavy enough, but goes to snow/sleet when it lightens up. Love you all still taking my hiatus, though lol

Looks like it changed over to freezing rain.25 degrees.CP's last measurement was 4 inches, it's dark so I can't tell but will go with that.Hope t gets above freezing to clear the driveway and roads and get rid of this slop.

It's 38 here with a real feel of 31. Rain that is heavy at times. Flash Flood warnings. Wind is at 9.
Tomorrow it will be 15 degrees. Can't catch a break.

38* with Rain at my home. 51* with Heavy Rain here at the SNJ shore. Think I may have heard a rumble of thunder about 20 min ago. Luckily no flooding and we’re at high tide. The temp here is projected to drop from 51* now to 29* at 7 pm and 11* at this time tomorrow: A 22* drop in 12 hrs and a 40* temp difference (!!) in 24hrs.

35. Final total here 1.5”. I held at 33 most of the night and I just missed a bad ice storm. I’m very thankful for that.

Definitely have heard some gentle rumbles coming from yonder somewhere here at Exit 80 in Bayville.
Wife's flight to Jax out of JFK tomorrow at 7 am was canceled 24 hrs ago. A ton of flights canceled today and tomorrow seemingly for no reason (hindsight of course). My wife got on a later flight for Monday, so she will get on the plane in single digits and get off 3 hrs later in the '60s. I'm gonna call her the second she's off the plane and ask to describe how the temp diff feels.
Meantime, come 3-4 pm around here, southern Jersey should start to freeze sold. I guess we plan to shlep the kids over to Philly to go to the Touch Me children's museum until then. Stay safe and sound everyone, prob gonna be treacherous for a bit tonight and into tomorrow.

Yeah a lot of flight cancellations were needless as it turned out. I’m hoping the roads/walkways have a few hours to dry before the temp drop to minimize icing tonight. Given that the storm seems to be ending early, I think we’ll catch a break on that.

Re: January 19th-20th: 1st Call Snow Map
I did not measure last night before I went to bed, but looking out the window it was definitely less than 2 inches of snow, possibly as little as 1 inch. It seemed to snow for a very long time without accumulating very much.
This morning I had an inch of slop to shovel which was not too difficult to do, although it was like walking on an ice rink underneath.
It was a diappointing snowfall, but I feel very lucky to have dodged the ice.

So close last night. Had some snow for a little bit, about .5" then the house was slammed with wind, sleet and rain for an hour or two. Heavy rain moved in about 1:30 am at 33°, so far up to 1.29" of rain at 36.3°

sloppy drive home. roads not too bad. looks like Dutchess putnam border was about where the snow lastest longer. still 25 here. with sleet when its doing stuff. 4 compacted inches with a layer of ice on top. shoveling its amazing how cold the storm started with light fluffy snow then covered with ice. very cold good ratio snow to too warm for snow like that.
