Winds not impressive at all. Seems like most are seeing well over 40mph. I'm here in wp and at best tress sway a bit from time to time. Def not hww level. Oh well.

From our local paper:

At 8:30 a.m. this morning the greatest number of outages were in Sullivan County, where 10,628 customers are without power. Another 1,778 of the outages were in Ulster County. There were 1,084 customers in Orange County without power.

At 10 a.m. the outages were as follows:

Total outages: 2,452
Orange 532
Sullivan 190
Ulster 1,730

The winds have really picked up now.

The same here. Winds are really blowing. 25 mph steady and gusts past 50 mph.

Upton mentioned in their 1am discussion, when they issued the HWW, that there would be a lull in the winds overnight but that they’d ramp up again by this afternoon. Winds from the NW were already gusting over 60 mph in Greenwich, 55 at LGA around that time so I think they went bullish for today as well due to obs. and guidance showing solid mixing down to surface. As always, winds are one of the hardest forecasts to pin down (who gets what where, etc.)

Soul, first time I noticed the tattoo. Great! I lost a few trees today in the back acreage. More firewood for me. I am surprised at how strong the gusts were today. Still going on and at this very moment, one came by so strong the back house windows vibrated a bit. Yikes!!!

Outages have been fairly limited in Westchester but i watched some crazy gusts put window at work not too long ago.

22.5 mph right now according to Alexa..thanks for the tip....they feel calmer then they were all afternoon..the winds made it hard for my doggies when they went out...it was funny to watch them...

Haha, thanks! I actually added to the hurricane since and got a half-sleeve of weather elements! I’ll have to upgrade my avatar.

We certainly got some stronger gusts than I’ve seen here in the city all year. I just came up out of the subway @ Queens Plaza and was greeted by this!

My power flickered in the storm at about 9:30 and my weather station data board reset in answer to your question yesterday about he rain total for us - why it says I have 12.94" of rain on the rain is beyond me.

Rain made it a lot further north and was a lot heavier than I expected up here. Total washout here today. But we needed some rain and that’s two good rains events in the last week.

Thats only nice thing about an apartment with free heat and hot water. Though it comes on at the oddest times and it does not work well in the bedroom which is ice cold in the dead of winter, I think due to two outside facing walls with windows on both sides and only one small radiator under the window. Of course the living room is too hot lol
