Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
look how precip blows up in nj and along LI and even in the dry slot area. If that all filles in then it has to go east and areas like me that got no snow may see some decent snow lets hope that happens.

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
Currently at 6.7 inches and intensity picking up again over eastern orange county.
I said several days ago I'd be very happy with 6-8 from this setup but double digits would be nice. It's a stretch but not impossible.

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
After a white rainstorm here in the city, precip has all but ended. An inch measured at CPK. Man, this was a tough one to forecast outside of the Hudson Valley/Capital Region. Even my folks in eastern New Hampshire—the euro just yesterday had them getting walloped tonight and early tomorrow (Beantown incl.) but now looks like the heaviest will stay just offshore in the Atlantic. We can relate. ;-)

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
32 with moderate snow. Best rates of the storm. Makes sense as it’s maturing now and 500mb trough is neutral. ULL hasn’t budged much but storm vertical stack is drifting East.

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
as i posted above the radar appears to expand a lot suggesting it might snow for many more hours into the morning even, maybe this is what we needed to at least get ST. Will that all eventually move east over the tristate area, thats out in PA now?heehaw453 wrote:32 with moderate snow. Best rates of the storm. Anyone have any suggested website or material to help educate on the various atmospheric levels and associated low pressure? I've seen ULL (upper level low) and SLP (surface low pressure?) and I'm sure there are other features but not sure how they all tie together in developing a big storm.

Most models had it showing until 3-4am. If these bands stay over us until then an additional 2-4 across the board is possible

Will that banding shift east at all and hit westchester or do we look to stay in that snow hole?amugs wrote:Down to 30*

Up to 7.6 inches, 29.0 and snowing moderately.
Some decent dark greens rotating in from CT into HV. 10 inches looking more and more likely when all is said and done.

It had stopped snowing for awhile, now it’s snowing again and I’m up to 5 inches. It sure does look pretty out there with the snow and the Christmas lights.

CP, we have done very well with this storm.Radar looks good for us, that 10 may be in range! Trained spotter had 6.4 in Monroe at 2 30 this afternoon so let's see tomorrow morning where we are.Anyway, what a great Christmas spirit this is bringing to all getting snow!
Nothing like a snowy early December and the cold temps this week should keep this snowpack around a while!
Happy Days!!!!

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
From the looks of radar those bands in CT are going smack into north to south westchester, if they stay that intensity may be heaviest snow yet, heres hoping. I would like to see the roads covered.
