Lights have flickered in Wayne. Some big branches down in my yard. After Sandy, I hate the wind. Can’t wait for this to be over.

I had to look it up.
A sting jet is a meteorological phenomenon which has been postulated to cause some of the most damaging winds in extratropical cyclones, developing according to the Shapiro-Keyser model (though perhaps not exclusively)[1] of oceanic cyclones.
Great work Grselig!!!!
Torrential rains here again with sick winds!

I don’t know if there is more wind to come as this pulls away but the winds at my house are now dead calm. I think the show is largely over here.

Seems to be over here as well. Tree debris everywhere! Leaves, branches big and small. Looks like part of a tree broke off across the street, but can’t really tell from here.

We have trees down everywhere. I have a huge branch in my yard resting on the lines. I live just off the main street and the sound of fire engines has not stopped here for the last hour, no joke.

This seems like the first storm in years where the high winds the models were pumping were on target. Maybe not exactly the crazy numbers that the Euro was suggesting, but it was bad.

Lights just came back on in parts of Bloomingdale. That storm was literally racing by. It was the saving grace for many.

Yup. If this was a crawler and we experienced TS force winds over a long period of time it would have been much worse.

I’m in Packanack. Have family on the west side of the lake, near 23....they don’t have power.
Glad you’re safe on your end!

Nothing earth shattering in Nutley. I had on and off squally rains with gusts in the 50mph range. No strong sustained winds or flooding rains whatsoever. Streets are littered with mostly small tree branches. Power flickered several times.

Calm now, but it was intense for a time. We are on Black Oak area, by Kohls. Hope power returns for those without. Tough for NJ. Glad you are safe too!Friends seem to have some damage, by Preakness

Re: Tropical Storm Isaias
So yeah, the winds definitely materialized. Windiest I’ve seen it in the city since moving here. Gusts well over 70 mph in Queens, where a tree fell on a car killing one person. Street signs are down in front of my building along with numerous large limbs in the park adjacent to me.

Sun starting to poke through now, but winds are picking up again.
I went out a few minutes ago to clear the large debris off my deck, and it is already full of large and small branches again!

Re: Tropical Storm Isaias
The entire north bound side from NYC on Saw Mill parkway is closed (after McLean Ave) 5 massive trees came down, nobody can get through i asked the police he said people would likely be stuck on the highway till at least late tomorrow!! Tree trucks cant get through they said likely have close both sides to take care of it. The trees are enourmous. I took distant pics but am go try get better onces. Takeout entire north side and a bit into south. Was crazy here, I am thinking was over 70mph, as quickly as it came it left. I narrowly missed getting by a very large branch falling i should not have been out driving i did not realize it would be like that.

Winds blowing now are as bad as during the heart of the storm. Getting that freight train noise.
