The rapidly shrinking daylight hours are always the first thing that puts me in the mood that Fall is officially arriving and summer has expired. The second are those chilly nights. Not that the GFS two weeks out is a lock, but, if the GFS were to hold, the first "freeze" of the year could touch NW NJ by October 2.

Still plenty humid today as it always seems to be in Sep (and Oct and even Nov). My central air is still on here and there to keep house humidity down. When I lived at the shore I got used to weeks of wet blanket weather. It is not stinking bad but yes, the humidity seems so prevalent anymore

Fall is coming!!

Gorgeous late summer morning

I have really noticed the change in the angle and quality of the sunlight over the past few days.  This is a truly beautiful time of year - still warm, but with very different and beautiful light.

Great points about the sun angle changing. I've been driving up and down GSP between 6-7 pm a lot lately and really enjoying the westward sunsets...they've been spectacular actually. At least down by the shore, as of Sunday we're hopefully going to lock in 10+ days of low 70's days, high 50's nights, with lots of sun and low humidity.  Fingers crossed!      Other than a nice snow storm, def my personal choice for a weather day. Number 3 would be a a trop dep type hit with 1-2 inches of rain and 30-40 wind gusts. Just strong enough too make me flinch with worry a few times... lol

Currently 80° and quite muggy on this first full day of fall. Looking at the radar, the line of thunderstorms in eastern PA. looks nasty. I assume we will be getting some of that later today as we are under a flash flood watch.

Line of storms tracking across NJ now. For those who have experienced them already, are they bad? Debating whether I should go visit my grandmother or wait until Sunday. Her birthday is today!

Odd radar loop there, Frank. Thin intense line just along the coast heading straight into NYC. right at this time. Then to the west nothing til eastern PA. but nothing like they were getting blasted earlier today.

Yes it did look odd last night. I went to bed thinking that skinny little line of rain in PA was it....wrong! We had some heavy rain develop overnight, ended up with 1.8" total.

It's hot! Crisp air? This morning was cool. I was in Jersey today and was hot there too low 80s.

It is fixed now. Ssam is a cat 3 going for 4, very tiny. IMO he is gonna recurve OTS.

That seems to be the general consensus at this point. Time will tell.
