Woah according to this map the storm starts to pull out at 9am?!! that would def drop totals sig.

This came insanely further west than expected, literally entire board (except poor mickey) is snowing moderately.

Winds are really gusty here with moderate snow falling. Temp now down to 24 in Brooklyn .

temp just dropped from 22 to 20, moderate snow, the radar is filled all way back to almost scranton PA! That was not on models I do not think, and models are still lost, HRRR has about 3 inches for NYC.

My concern is futurecast radars look to be pulling this out of the area by 9am or so, can that be right? I thought it was going to snow most of the day?

I guess it depends where you are. I live in Jersey just east of Philly and figured it be a 9 pm to 9 am storm here

12 degrees moderate to heavy snow. At least a couple additional inches. Will measure in morning. Radar does not look anything like any model I saw yesterday. Was hoping for 6-8 yesterday looks like it may happen or dare I say over achieve.

How do you plan to measure this? I mean It is so windy here anyways There are small drifts and then bare spots.

It’s fairly easy in my case. I have a somewhat sheltered area in my back patio that I keep my snow board on. It’s somewhat sheltered from wind so measurements are usuallly very accurate. This one I’ll measure a couple other areas I had cleared of the existing snow so I should have a good idea in the morning. Can’t measure anyway in my yard because I already had 4-5 inches on the ground when this started. I’ve been lucky enough to have a solid snow cover since January 7. Since radar as you stated Is far west I’ll be very curious in the morning to see how much we received.

I thought from yesterday’s models it was suppose to snow until about noon. Going back to bed now so not sure what they say now. Good luck John just don’t measure on the fire escape. We know how that’s gone in the past.

3.5 inches of new snow as of 4:45 and 12° with moderate to occasionally heavy snow. Totally unexpected this early.

i have a spot as well that is pretty sheltered on the side of the house..but so windy and cold.I will wait till daylight...lol currently 22* winds 23mph had a gust over 30 a bit ago

23* light to moderate snow. Haven’t measured but it looks to only be about 2-3”. The original 3-6” forecast for my area will likely hold as snow will be winding down here in the next few hours and it isn’t particularly heavy. Also with the cold air I’m getting a very fine snow, so it ain’t exactly piling up quick. Lol.

Other than RB’s prediction, which is so far spot on, totally unexpected to have 3.5 inches before 5 am.

WWA for 3-5 still in place. Who cares though they’re usually late to the party.

hey rb are the winds supposed to get stronger as the morning goes on?

Per SPC Meso, H7 and the jet at H3 are primed for maintaining CCB comma head banding overhead for a while yet. H5 not yet closed off basis this, but per my eye it is closing off now. I’ve felt the SPC Meso hasn’t been matching real time for a while, as demonstrated.

Very hard to see right now, but I’m guessing maybe 6-8” here so far. Take that eyeballed estimation with caution, though lmao

I wouldn’t say insanely west. Not sure if even say significantly west. Lol. I’m one of the people on the western-leaning side of the board (not as far west as some) and I’ve been getting mostly light-to-moderate snow with just about 3”. Barely plowable. This was forecast to be 3-6 here, then upped to 4-8 yesterday, but the 3-6 looks more realistic.

In other words it’s a nice little snowfall here, which is about all I expected with the coast and LI jackpotting as expected.

This is clearly the coastal area’s year for snowstorms. Lol. One jackpot after another. They’ve been owed a winter like this (especially since they don’t get it as often). Enjoy S&E folks!

PAINFULLY close. Lol. If I drove about 15 miles east I’d be in some good banding.

Things have changed since last report here in Barnegat. Temperature dropped dramatically about 10 degrees and has become a blizzard. Have not measured yet.
