Does this for sure translate into changes at the surface, i.e. more western track, North not northeast?

Thanks Frank so glad to be back! This one has been one tough SOB to forecast, but now will see what happens. Great job by everybody with trying to nail this one down.

5 isnt bad just frustrating when you see the potential and how sharp the cutoffs are forecasted to be. Winter goes by quick and we only have 8 inches so far to show for it. Fingers crossed with this one any shift is west. If a shift east this storm will be total dud for us. Im working nights this weekend so this storm will be an inconvenience as far as cleanup but I still want to go big.

Here’s the H7 heights with relative humidity in green. Note the dry slot circled in red. That’s your 850hPa circulation taking shape. This aligns well with the last hour’s and this most recent SPC Meso analysis of the 850hPa level. The classic comma head, outlined in blue, should be a developing CCB/frontogenesis band. That would match radar trends well also with that band training along I-95. Very interested to see how this plays out.
