No flood watch issued for our area in NENJ? Upton late to the party or most likely waiting until tomorrow morning. Have my OEM hat on and town is looking for answers too soon, hoping to have a better answer in the A.M.

Flash Freeze Friday looking more likely
Winds 40-55 mph gusts from late Thurs to Fri night = power outages possible
Arctic squall line moves in around 10-11 AM
Early Dismissals possible for school Friday? Maybe

No flood watch here either and the SR models have the heaviest rain right over NYC area. But you know upton. Personally I think 40mph will be on the low end, the 850's are pushing 90+ mph for a brief period and 75-80mph for quite a duration, with all the precip a lot should mix down, I would not be surprised if HWW are expanded west but I think nyc of just west of would be the furthest extent. 55mph i think will be common and long duration, not look forward to any power loss as with no power comes no heat for us here.

They canceled my daughters after school for tomorrow and friday. She's out sick anyways so doesn't matter.

Can we change the sub title of this thread to "Another piece of sh!t December" Just a suggestion.

I swear to God I have to find another hobby, or spend my Decembers in the Tug Hill Plateau. What has happened to this month for the last several years? It has to be more than GW.

I can understand your frustrations..here on the coastal plain...we understand it's a crapshoot for snow ..we move here for access to the bay and ocean...but where you live..should be no question...I hope that the situation turns around. In the mean time....have a happy holiday week!!! the last several years? It has to be more than GW.

Cloudy, temp is 22 degrees, calm winds.Radar shows snow to south and west approaching.May get 1/2 inch at the beginning.

Location:Wantage, NJ (8 mi south of High Point Monument - 3mi w KFWN). 740' MSL

Southern Wantage NJ had a mix of freezing rain, sleet, wet snow 11A-1P with a slushy slippery film on most surfaces. Newton NJ had icy spots in the County parking lot at 1PM tho the wet snow rain mix had become all rain.

Another ob from a CoCoRaHs observing family member... Lords Valley in Pike County PA (Poconos and near exit 34, I-84). 3/4" snow before the change to sleet.

Also I saw picture of snowfall at High Point NJ a while ago.

For grins I pulled AO values on days where the AO was between -3.5 to -4.16 sigma in December and referenced that to December monthly snowfall (in inches) in CPK. Some years repeat in the list as they have more than 1 day in that range, but there are 20 distinct years. The average AO value for December 2022 in the first 20 days is -3.04683306575. There has never been a case with no measurable snowfall for December when there has been a day in that range. There have been a few years with < 1" but never nothing.
