Thats awesome man. Make sure to pay it forward. For your neighbor looking out the window...make sure to pay him back. He needs some yellow snow on his property.
LMAO, ya I am going to steer clear of doing that, then he WILL have something to complain about! I pay them no mind, its all street parking, as long as you do not park in front of someones driveway or in front of a traffic device or fire hydrant everything else is fair game, but you must be parallel to the curb, which can be hard in the snow, I saw someone get a ticket for sticking way out into a already narrowed 2 way street into almost a one way street. One thing that really burns me is the people who build snow walls and then park their car at the from of the opening and spray down the snow with water to turn it to ice so its a locked in parking area for 4 cars that no one else can use, I plan to report this one and I mean ONE particular family who does this every year. I so want to go just chop it down buy a dead car put plates on it and when they are alt work have that plow guy bust open the wall put the car there and leave it, except I would have to move it from 9am-11am on Fridays except during high amounts of snow. Other people who think a cone or a board can save them a street spot which is illegal I just get out and throw then on the sidewalk lol, one time a woman came out and yelled at me, I said ok go ahead call the cops, its illegal to do what you did not me, and if anything happens to my car overnight I know whos door to knock on with the police chief who I know personally, that shut her up lol. Sorry for this huge rant but I am hoping someone feels all this pain in the ass stuff. PEOPLE WHO HAVE A DRIVEWAY AND USE THE STREET INSTEAD! TOTALLY UNFAIR IN A ALREADY OVERCROWDED NEIGHBORHOOD. Please I hope someone agrees with me.

Was there a lot of change in the Euro between the 12z and the 00z Frank posted this morning or should I just mentally shift the storm north a bit?

EXACTLY, SNOW,LOL!
And wouldn't you know it, Frank spotting evidence that the front does not drop far south enough which would bring warmer air as far as the HV!!
TWC is NYC curse.....Boston blessing,LOL.
Doc, This winter makes me feel like a kid that just got his favorite toy for Christmas and then Santa comes back and snatches it away. It has been heart breaking to say the least. As Mugs quoted a few days back "it's not over until the fat lady sings". We shall see what happens. Lets hope she sings loud enough for the SNOW GODS to hear.
SNOW, sometimes the fat lady doesn't start singing until the end of March.Lot's of time left my friend!!!

A great story about a wonderful guy helping out others in a tough time right now.
The other guy, well, I'd place an ad in the paper for a garage sale at his address saying "early birds welcome,we are up at 6 AM".This way, you get to see him being aggravated by garage sale lunatics crawling all over his property looking for it.

This sucks!! Even though the storms have overperformed when they get to LI, hearing all the hype and potential and seeing the snow maps leads to such anticipation, and then such depression as the event draws near. Unbelievable how much this sucks.
Even car commercials on the radio are making fun of the weather forecasts for NYC always hyping big snows and never verifying!! They're calling all mets "alarmists" My 2 cents is everyone is in a rush to call the storm and amounts first when they should be concerned about getting it right!!

You know Ryan, while "Astronomical Winter" ends on March 20th as you mentioned, "Solar Winter" ended today, meaning the 90 shortest days of the year are now behind us. Before you know it, the sun angle will make an impact with snow forecasts.

Re: Wx Banter Thread 1.0
This is true and a good fact to mention, once March arrives the sun angle is equal to mid to late fall.......that's when daytime heating and sun angle really become a forecasting variable as you mentioned, though with good temps and rates it can easily be overcome.Math23x7 wrote:Quietace wrote:Spring 2015 starts on Friday, 20th March 2015, 6:46pm...

I've seen snowstorms in April and one in 1977 in May. Sun angle comes into play in melting the snow after the fact for sure but as you said if it snows moderately and it's below 30 snow will stick in July.

And as I mentioned earlier Ryan, you had those good temps and rates last March.
And by the way, today is the 5-year anniversary of a storm that I am still bitter about. It gave me 18 hours of virga, no accumulation here in NYC. Portions of Brooklyn and Staten Island got up to 5 inches of snow, but south of NYC had so much snow it became known as "Snowmageddon" as shown here: http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/cmb/images/snow/nesis/20100204-20100207-4.38.jpg

Meteorological winter or the coldest 90 days of the year are from early December thru early march, so as far as winter weather is concerned we still have a ways to go.

And doc I am one of those so called lunatics, lol. I have ebay business that does really well selling almost solely from buying peoples stuff from garage sales they have no clue is worth money, sometimes a ton. : ) I also run my own when I get too much smaller stuff, so I know how to make a great ad and you do not even need the paper you can use craigslist, which is where I and most people go.

Attaboy, Jman, on the business you have turning over garage sale merchandise! I like that ambition.
Yep, I sold stuff on Craigslist as I moved up to the HV.My handyman runs a furniture restoration business on the side.He picked up a "highboy" on CL for 40 bucks, restored it and sold it for 1000 bucks!!! There is money out there if you can recognize the gems.
NWS still has me for snow Sat through Tues AM with a three hour window on Sunday mixing with rain. There must be some credibility here as it's getting closer.
