I think you mean as wavelengths shorten.  Quick update on the Siberian snow growth.  First image is the one I posted back on Sept 20th followed by current.  As you can see below normal to normal snow growth overall.  Nothing incredibly exciting thus far on this front.  Still more than half of October to go, but current forecasts do show an over abundance of snowfall in this region, esp the regions with red on it as of the current map below.  We'll see

Looks like a big temperature drop with that weekend frontal passage from low 80s Fri/Sat into the low to mid 60s behind it. Wonder if that dramatic difference will generate some severe weather as it comes through.

Is it go rain Friday into sat for sure? That's what I see but wanted see what you guys think b4 I make my plans. Thanks

I'm thinking more Saturday afternoon. I think Friday is ok for the most part.

Definitely seeing signs of cooler weather ahead. The first trough comes in late Saturday after a cold front passes through. Rain will breakout around 5pm Saturday but it will end before sunrise on Sunday. This is a fast moving trough so the fall-like temps will stick around until Tuesday.



The next period of normal to possibly below normal temps would be end of October starting around the 24th.

Mom, they did mention at the end of the article after their parade of torch that IF blocking sets up it would mean colder temps and allowing them to adjust their predictions. That is more like it than he headline and first few paragraphs. I am not a fan of the TWC and have not been for years since i found these wx boards. How's they do on the torch for late Jan through end of Feb last year for the Plains through the NE? That was a week out when they made that call. Can't tell me they dont have the tools and meteorological knowledge to see what all the wx boards were discussing back then. I follow a few whom I trust and call it like it is and gives what to the why and why to the what. Weather, a beautiful science that is not solved.

@Frank next weekend Friday seems to be when the next trough swings in and we go very fall like even mid Novemberish.
Wednesday we'll see a spike in temps again to 70ish. Happens in this meridional jet flow and the shortening of the wavelengths.

I hope this is the last day of the heat I am sick tired of this warm weather

Oh, the SPC kiss of death! lol It's already getting pretty gusty and the line is still out near Scranton.

It was a beautiful day for my mother's memorial 18 months already( covid was raging when she died and 1 year Anniversary so we planned it fast now that numbers are down and it's her birthday) ..rain held off and there was a nice breeze to keep us cool. Huge turnout for a woman who did so much for so many. Temp was 80.

Line of very strong storms moving in here and the wind is ripping. Gust front ahead of the line just came through and the air was filled with tree leaves. Looked like confetti.

15 degree temperature drop here in past hour.

Same here, temp down 14*, down to 63.5 and still falling. SPC Kiss of death, just like I mentioned. Nothing severe here, just a quick moving heavy downpour.

Beautiful crisp Fall air today. Partly Sunny and 61* here.

Already down to 48*, had the windows open a little last night and the heat came on, house got down to 62* lol

First time since May had a morning low of 48 * finally feeling like

41° here at 6:30 am.

It was a shock taking the trash out this morning after the warmth of Friday and Saturday (I didn’t go outside yesterday), but it feels right.

44* here his morning - BRRRRR had to heat my car up!! Gonna be doing this till March early April - THANK GOD for the remote starter option I have for my car!!

Whoa…42 with a feels like of 37!! Was expecting mid-hi 40s! Hasn’t been this chilly since what, April? Maybe early May? Down at the Shore, low temps go right back to the 50s tomorrow morning (highs back in the 70s) for a few days, then a rainy weekend and then back to these cooler temps by early next week.

40.7 here this morning - wow was it chilly!!!
Hopefully some frost and maybe freeze this upcoming weekend but definitely for the Ruburbs of NJ and Cp and dem hills of CP, DOC and SNOWY!

46 again for a low this morning..love it!!
