Looks like the Nam did the best with this storm based off what's going on in SNE and upstate NY.
The Euro did the worst

31.2* and still ZR. Half inch of sleet before that. Evergreens are sagging.

23 degrees light sleet, calm winds.Looks like 1 1/2 inches of slop.Roads not good.Looks like a few hours more of sleet on radar.

Exactly billg! That was the KOD for any bigger snow amounts here.

Here in Deer Park we hot 33, now down to 32 on my Davis wx station mounted about 12 feet above the roof. My ground level thermometer dropped from 32 to 31. Seeing the trees and cars iced up, I guess there's that slightest enough temp difference between GLVL and 20 feet above.

The real problem was 850-700mb. A few days ago I posted a comment that when the 700mb flow is out of the west the snowier soln will win out, esp when the mid levels dont close off. ATT that was the case. But clearly we trended away from that. That 850mb low position was the main killer IMO and the 700mb flow is out of the WSW-SW instead of W. With an 1034mb HP in its position to our N, nad a CAD signature there should have been way more snow for all of us if that 850 Low was centered around PA instead of W NY

Dropped a degree back to 31* and still freezing rain here. And coming down pretty good as well. This will really add to some of the ice here.

No spring break? CT and NY are on break, that sucks that kids dont get a break in NJ. Scary thing to wake to this morning, I am at Mohegan Sun in CT (yes I frequent here, stay free nice that I am good friends with a tribal member : ) I was headed to elevators on 18th floor, the hotel is slightly slanted and all these chunks of ice came flying down from 36th floor banging against the windows all way down and then hit the parking lot, thank goodness they removed all the cars from there! And that no one was standing there.amugs wrote:ZR here now and my wife school did not close. What a mess.

Re: February 25th 2022 potential snow/ice for mainly well NW of I95
In 1.5 hours, the temp is up 3 degrees. Will be a high of 40 today. Maybe it will hit above freezing by 2 pm. Not a big window to melt much before it refreezes, hard. Will go to 14 tonight. The slop has stopped. It started around 1 am this morning. So there is a light snow cap. The one thing I learned after moving here was never leave anything on the driveway, especially a dusting to a few inches or risk a skating rink. Took me a few years later to realize all the slow roof melt was creating the skating rink on the driveway too. Underground drains for the gutters fixed that. February stubbed its toe for temps and snow.

You're right Damian ,February a bust up here.So far I am grading this winter a D.The only reason it is not an F is the extended snow pack we had up here.Still time to get us to a C, normal snowfall, but time is slowly running out.

Let me spin my broken record again... Doc if interior area had just a bit of AO/NAO support this would be 30"+ this month. The first storm (Feb 4) had almost 2" of liquid and this one about 1". I label this winter as the what might have been...

HeeHaw, see you in the long-range forum where we will talk about the ball not hitting the foul pole and if that is possible in March. Of course, many of us remember a blizzard-like storm one April...time that went by

I ended up with about 0.25 inch of crusty ice. Thankfully, it wasn’t impossible to get off the walk and driveway, although it did take me an hour.
It’s 33° here now and getting brighter. Thankfully! I hate this kind of storm.

I am going with a F so far. Only have 15 inches total for the year. I like to get at least one 12 plus in a season and a bunch of 3 plus. It is true I did have a snow pack most of January due to the cold but not much depth.

Up to 34* here now and melting has commenced.
Add .75" of ice to the snow total which is 55% of normal average 18.7" YTD. Average is about 34" here.

Giving this winter a solid D, I have been close to the close to the big snows seen in the shore communities but far enough away to get very little. With some luck I could see it getting to to a c or c+
