February 27th-28th 2023 Winter Storm

Start red snowing 6:00, snowing real hard, grass almost covered ,
Temperature 31.9999999 degrees

Down to 30 degrees here at about 1000' ASL in the hills of Hopatcong NJ. Light snow started about 30 min ago, and we are now snowing moderately. Sticking to the deck/ground, road just starting to show signs of sticking.

We had a high of 42 as of 1 PM today. An impressive drop.

Hoping for at least 3-5 inches IMBY here as my daughter has yet to experience any sort of significant (+ 5 inches or more) accumulation of snow in her lifetime and she is very invested in making a snowman. Time will tell!

Been following the discussion all week, you guys are the best in the business as far as I'm concerned when it comes to thoughtful weather discussions and general information.

38 degrees here, dropped from about 47 today, hasn't dropped in over a hour though. No precipitation yet even though there's a good fetch of light to moderate precip overhead, nothing so it must be virga but some are reporting the same batch is making it to the ground.

Just went outside, snowin real good, feels like a wet snow?
Now sticking to roads , 31 degrees..

Down to 32. Snow is falling. Grass is now coated in West Milford

A few flakes here @ 37 degrees.

Down to 34* here. I can't believe how quickly the temp here dropped. And frankly, at this temp, if we get some heavy precip, it's going to go below freezing pretty quickly (if it doesn't go below freezing before). I'm a lot less concerned about temperatures and stickage than I was 3 hours ago. Now, for those temperatures aloft . . . gotta keep them cold too.

Snowing lightly, looks like very fluffy not wet flakes the way they are wisping around.

Look at those radar returns in SE PA moving into southern NJ, 50-60dbz radar returns wow, whoever gets into that is going to see some quick accumulation.

On its current movement looks like it will go NE-NNE through central jersey and NYC metro.

It would be quite a kick in the you know what, worse than not getting a storm at all if that all came in as rain or sleet. We will wait and see. Wheres that radar at? I like it. I dont have one with precip types.

33.8/30.7 moderate snow.  sticking to colder surfaces.

Very strong bands moving into EPA and WNJ. My feeling is some of this will come in as sleet, but very well could be 1-1.5”/hour snowfall rates. If you are under this band please report back!!

It’s likely to expand more and push into all of Northern and central Jersey into NYC on north and east. So much for all the talk of “warm” temps earlier. Down to 30 with snow falling.

What an amazing CAD signature on the surface maps. When you have a low cutting through Ohio, and are still cold enough to snow at our latitude, that tells you the HP to our north MEANS BUSINESS

33.8 and light snow finally began. Not that exciting right now in Orange County NY.

i hear a tiny amount of sleet snowing moderately but looks like a lull between this part and the part in EPA.

There's definitely sleet pellets IMBY.  Mostly snow but definitely some pingers
