Interesting thing is, the models showed the heaviest precip developing and filling in over the area after 10 p.m., so this is an early round -- assuming the precipitation development with the development of the secondary was correctly modeled.

Heavy snow, grass and colder surfaces are covered. Road and sidewalks are still just wet

Still snowing heavily here. All surfaces including roads now snow covered.

Moderate snow, coating on cars and grass, all roads and sidewalks still wet, it is going to have to snow a lot harder to get anything to stick to roads I think. Temp 34. 6 degree drop in a few hrs.

Moderate to heavy snow.  About 1.5" OTG.

I think you are right, futurecast on accuwx has the entire area between the end of this and the batch over western PA consolidating in between, this could overperform from what I am seeing, for some not all but this is def more precip than anticipated.

Just shoveled 2 inches off my driveway and Township truck just came through and plowed, 29 degrees and really snowing Hard.

It is blitzing!!! Thundersnow! Roads are covering wow.

Upper 20’s here in West Milford. Wasn’t expecting temps this low. Heavy snow continues. Looks like the heaviest precip is still to come. Very heavy precip in central PA now , pushing east.

Well he had a full username CPcantmeasuresnow (meaning central park cant measure snow) for many years as many as I knew him, oh how I hope he shows up again one day : )

Not to belabor the point, but we may all be better off if he doesn’t.

What an odd username, why would anyone care if Central Park can’t measure snow? This gentleman should seek help. Probably sooner rather than later.

As much as I hate the term, it is puking snow, not but 10 min ago roads were slushy wernt now everything is white even main roads.

Leaving Long Branch Exit 105 to head back to Bayville Exit 80. Heavy white rain here in Long Branch, 36*. We’ll see what mile marker this turns back to rain at…

It appears to me that the snow will completely shut off shortly, nothing directly behind this hit until I guess the main system which is over central PA? Or is this it and we are done in the next few hours some sooner.

I do think there will be a lull in intensity for the next hour or two until the secondary can start to take over and "fill in" the area between this first heavy band and the next heavy band over Central PA. That area in PA would make it here by midnight anyway, but what is more likely if you look at the radar/model projections (assuming they're accurate) is that the precipitation shield will start to re-orient and fill-in. That is why this early burst was so nice, because there may still be several more hours to go for some people once that fills in. Now, as we get later some people who have snow now, may have mixing issues, so that still has to be watched especially on the southern fringe of this.

Looks like about an inch and a half so far but that radar also looks like this is quickly racing to an end.
