Re: February 2019 Observations and Discussions
Looks like my area had around 50 as a top wind gust so far.Glad the outages are not that bad. After losing power 8 days from Sandy, I am scarred for life having no power.Looks like peak winds are now to evening when they say diminishing will occur. It's been howling non stop all day, partly cloudy.Might get a few inches Wednesday and more snow/slop Thursday-Friday.From discussions in the other thread, looks like the next two weeks could be the last train out for winter weather. That storm track was set in stone, everything to our west.

Re: February 2019 Observations and Discussions
It was recycling night here in Branchburg. Cans and bottles are all over the place. I left mine inside and figured I can wait until next time. I did lose my trampoline to the wind (found it 3 houses down) and also lost a tree in my backyard that crushed 2 sections of fence around my pool. That happened around 10 am this morning. That kind of stunk! Highest wind my station registered was 46 mph.billg315 wrote:Wind was definitely making its presence known all night. My house is wood-frame so when its windy, I know it. lol. Unfortunately the other tell-tale sign is the littering of unsecured trash across my neighborhood. It ain't even trash night folks, keep your trash secured!

Winds seem to be really strong now and outages are at their highest in Westchester right now. Seen several stop signs broken at the base a few fences blown out but surprisingly no trees just small branches.

Yeah, lucky for me our recycling night is tomorrow night so by then we should be ok. I agree, I kind of think with winds like this, if your recycling can wait two weeks, just save it for the next pickup. Better than having it blow all over the streets. My backyard is littered with small tree branches and smaller items that blew around. Have to do cleanup this evening or tomorrow.

Re: February 2019 Observations and Discussions
Same here - recycling day was today and I also chose to wait till next time. I came home to find neighbors’ bottles and cans strewn everywhere, but it’ll have to wait till a better day for me to clean up. I still have mounds of ice everywhere in my front yard and I’m not going to risk breaking my neck.Frankdp23 wrote:It was recycling night here in Branchburg. Cans and bottles are all over the place. Re: February 2019 Observations and Discussions
Morning low of 19.6°. Currently 21.6°
Thank God the winds have died down, I've never been a fan. They only cause damage and power outages and during blizzards bare spots in odd areas. None of the three have any appeal to me.
No offense Jman.

25° with calm winds (gusts 8 mph). Does not seem like much damage around town, which is good. Heavy winds too scary for kids and I'm always afraid of trees falling and causing injuries. Hope everybody walked away without damage.

Damn, I just copied CP word for word. Too early in the morning, but it was total plagiarism. Second try. above

It looks like the snow is further south its already snowing in white plains and heavier stuff looks to be moving in from west.

"WINTER STORM EXPECTED TONIGHT AND TOMORROW"...posted on all the NYC highway signs. They've really had a lot of nerve with this vernacular since the November debacle.

Re: February 2019 Observations and Discussions
I was never expecting much yesterday hence my lack of posting. Energy was too far north. Tomorrow morning, however, it looks like we could see a solid 1 to 3 inches N&W of NYC. A coating to an inch or 2 for the rest of us.
And then the NAM shows another burst of snow Saturday morning as a coastal low forms. This could bring a few inches to those S&W of NYC.
A more significant widespread snow event is possible Sunday night.
Wintry weekend ahead....

Re: February 2019 Observations and Discussions
La Nada winter. I got the merest sugar cookie coating of snow. Usually it is a snow to rain solution. A little coating will do. This winter reminds me of SJ winters. No snow tires, no plowing, no snow, just colder. Does anyone remember that April blizzard from some years ago? I am a true optimist, holding out. I will be the last one to go. They'll have to storm my stronghold to get me. Snow will come.
